Creating a Download for Social Media and Email

Once you have your source accounts linked, you can create downloads of your archived data.

Creating a Download

To start a download of your social media and email data:

1. Navigate to your Data page and click on the "Download" tab.

2. You have a few options for creating the download file:

  • Date range: enter a date range for the time period of the data you want to archive. We allow a maximum of one year at a time per archive download (so you may need to create multiple downloads if your needs span multiple years).
  • Sources: choose as many sources as you want to include in the download. If a regulator only asks for one email account's data, you can scope the download here. Leave this blank if you want to download all of your social media & email data.
  • Filter Emails: if your regulator asks for all communications from or to a specific client or person, enter their email(s) here. If not, leave this blank.

3. Click the "Request Download" button, and XY Archive will kick of the data assembly process for your download (this may take an hour or more depending on the amount of data being assembled). When your download is ready you will receive an email with a link to your download, and it will also display under the Data Download tab.

4. You can click on the blue "Download" button next to your download request to retrieve and view your download file.


Note: Download files remain available from XY Archive for 30 days and can only be retrieved a limited number of times, so once you've downloaded your file be sure to store it in a safe place! However, you can always re-request a new download if needed.
